Are just Irish Guacamole

Accompany patriotic anthems

 

St Andrew’s day,

Wearing thistle bold,

Is marked with Scottish pride

By young and old

Resplendent with daffodil

Is marked more soberly

Yet is celebrated still

Comes and goes

When is it marked?

Nobody knows

 

The media never hesitate

To ignore attempts to celebrate

 

With no displays of flags and emblems

Accompanying un-played patriotic anthems

Though he is immortalized in the tale

Of Saint George and the Dragon

It is as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers

That his patronage is built upon

St Anthony is a patron saint

Of lost things, articles and bits

I once had a St Anthony Medal

But I don’t know where to find it
