LOVE HAIKU

Under skies of grey,
or beneath a sky of blue,
I would love you still

# 2

Should the clouds obscure,
the glorious stars at night,
I will still love you

BREATH OF SPRING

She Entered
Like a breath of spring
And her presence
Altered everything
She walked in
With such a delicate air
Heads turned
To watch the maiden fair
She then returned
From whence she came
But didn’t leave us
Quite the same
We hoped to see again
That breath of spring
Whose presence
Altered everything

OH GUARDIAN ANGEL

Oh guardian angel
Please watch over me
It would be a comfort
To feel the guarantee
That should I go astray
Watching over me
You would be there
To guide me back to safety

GENETIC MYSTERY

Our genes are passed on
To subsequent generations
Our complete genetic make up
Quirks, foibles, and pre dispositions

Parts of us are forever preserved
Due to the wonder of genetics
And we can see in our off spring,
Our own distinct characteristics

Through this miracle of procreation
The genes will even carry
From generation to generation
The basic instincts in Genetic memory

What a pity that God omitted
When he created Adam
The most important genes of all
The ones to carry wisdom

IS THERE ANY GREATER PLACE ON EARTH?

When June comes fourth upon us
Is there any greater place on earth?
Than England’s green and pleasant land
Surely nowhere of similar worth

When the breeze gently stirs the grass
And the sun is in the clear blue sky
Is there any greater place on earth?
You could look abroad, but why?

OUT IN THE COUNTRY, AGAIN

When driving the byways
Travelling far and wide
Whether the lakes or the peaks
Or any of the countryside,
One thing that’s guaranteed
To frustrate the driving clan
And cause them to become irate
Is to get stuck behind a caravan
